Types of appointments:

- Therapeutic Massage

- Gillespie Approach / Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

-Therapeutic / Integrated massage combines various massage and bodywork modalities as needed for your specific concerns, from overall relaxation to focused bodywork.  This may range from stress-reducing Swedish massage, stretching, and ROM to detailed treatments involving myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, deep tissue techniques, etc.  Other sessions may involve one particular modality used throughout the session to address chronic tension.  I offer firm to moderate pressure but do not specialize in structural bodywork or use constantly deep pressure.  Many massage clients want a combination of soothing stress relieving massage with a bit more time & focus on areas of tension.

Oncology massage is not a type of massage, but refers to the proper massage pressure/site/medical modifications necessary for those who have ever had a cancer diagnosis.  It generally involves shorter sessions and lighter pressure, depending on where the client is in their treatment journey.  These clients may currently be in treatment or in remission.   I work with these clients on a select basis.  Potential clients should first explore what options their current healthcare system offers but clients may not know about.  Many massage services at those locations may be covered by insurance.  LMTs on site have access to your medical records and care team, which is important for those undergoing chemo/radiation/surgery.  I also offer:

-The Gillespie Approach / Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) for adults, children, and infants.
CFT is a gentle modality that has foundations in Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, and the dental experience of peridontist Dr. Barry Gillespie, who has developed this work for over 50 years and is still practicing and sharing insights.  This modality engages the nervous system via the cranial and sacral nerves, the various layers of fascia: our connective tissue network that provides tensional loading & allows shearing mobility (Stecco et all, 2025), and utilizes dental techniques as needed to release strain patterns held in the body from development, birth, surgery, injury, & various life experiences.  These traumatic events put pressure on our craniosacral fascial system which restricts the flow of cerebral spinal fluid from the brain into the nervous system and fascial soft tissue network.  Gillespie Approach serves as an opportunity to support the body's natural ability to restore wellness.

Once tension is released, at the body's unique pace, CSF can flow into previously diminished areas, the nervous system reorganizes, allowing the brain and body to function optimally and many health conditions to be improved.  Many people with oral/tongue ties, pre/post tie release concerns, migraine struggles, concussion & surgical histories, traumatic births (for baby or mom), car accident trauma, oral cavity / head shape issues, developmental milestone / reflex integration issues, depression & anxiety, ASD, ADHD, and additional nervous system dysregulation concerns seek out Gillespie Approach for its unique potential.  CFT is suitable for all ages, even newborns.  The sooner the strains are addressed, the better chance for optimum health through the lifespan.

CFT clients remain fully clothed, resting on a massage table, with room to move or stretch as needed to help the nervous system process what resonates during treatment.  It can be done seated or standing or as baby nurses or naps.

For more information on CFT & the conditions it may help, please see:

I do not combine massage therapy with CFT in one session, for several reasons, but clients seeking both modalities to help address their challenges can alternate appointment types.
I do not utilize energetic techniques or Reiki unless specifically requested by the client.

-Regarding Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction and Massage Therapy:
* Per Ohio Revised Code:  in order for licensed massage therapists to treat temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), clients must be directly referred in writing for such treatment to the massage therapist by a currently licensed physician, dentist, or chiropractor.
*  If you are specifically seeking treatment for TMD, please get a written referral from your doctor, dentist, or chiropractor for massage therapy from me before booking your appointment for CFT or therapeutic massage.  I will keep this document in your file.  While I do not specialize in TMD treatment, if you are looking for me to use bodywork to address that specific condition, a written referral will legally allow me to treat you, per Ohio law.
*  I treat areas of tension based on multiple factors, including symptoms you describe and what your tissues are telling me.  This may include the head, face, and oral structures within the mouth, for all clients.  I can address tension that may be contributing to many conditions, or overall stress, without a written referral.  Many clients benefit from addressing areas of chronic tension with therapeutic touch, regardless of their diagnosis, but TMD is the one condition that is specifically listed in Ohio law as needing written referral.  So, I must practice within state guidelines.

 What about tipping?
Tipping is not expected nor required.  Some clients view these therapies as personal services and insist on including a tip.  Some clients view these therapies as health and wellness care and do not tip.  The choice is up to the client.  The best "tip" you can give Debbie is to spread the word of her services and to put funds towards future needed sessions for you or your family!

How long of an appointment?  How often?
For massage, 60 & 90 minute sessions are popular and I recommend 60 minute CFT sessions for most ages.  A series of sessions is recommended when dealing with chronic tension or a history of trauma.  The body adjusts and the nervous system reorganizes during treatment.  Spacing out sessions by a few days to a few weeks, depending on the goals of therapy, allows time for your systems to integrate bodywork with daily behavior and self-care techniques outside of therapy.  This allows time to recognize the impacts of treatment between sessions.
A series of 3-5 CFT sessions is recommended by Dr. Gillespie, for initial treatment.  Longer series of 8-12 sessions are a potential reality when dealing with more complex traumatic issues.  However, everyone is different, and the body has its own timeline for recovery.
Based on my experience as an LMT, for massage, 1-2 sessions per week for 2-4 weeks are likely needed when focusing on an area of chronic tension.  For stress relief, clients visit every 4 weeks or more often in times of more stress.
Wellness maintenance is monthly for some, seasonally for others.

Massage is cumulative, the more often you receive, the better the effects.  I advise clients to listen to their bodies.  Your tissues will remind you of their issues.  Ignore the signs and the tension continues and worsens.  Soon enough compensation patterns occur and neurological pain pathways are established, leading to nervous system dysregulation.  Without proper therapeutic interventions and maintenance adjustments, this cycle will continue.

You only get one body.  Invest in your health!
